Home Learning Activities - Week beginning 18th October

Hello Class 2, 🙂

Here are some activities for anyone who is at home this week. We will add some more activities on Wednesday.

Monday 18th October

English - Poetry 🦉🐱
Today we would like you to have a go at performing part of the poem The Owl and the Pussy Cat by Edward Lear. Begin by watching this video recording (which we have looked at at school) and then have a look at the poem. Choose a verse or a few lines to read. Think about how you could perform the poem - could you use some actions or different voices? Then try performing part of the poem - you might like to do this in front of a mirror or to someone at home.

Reading 📚
Try to find some time to do some reading.

Spellings ✎
If you have time, please ask someone at home to test you on your spellings.

Maths - Adding and subtracting 10s
Begin by watching the video and then complete the worksheet. Here are the answers for you to check your work.

RE - Islam
For this lesson we are going to think about the story of The Boy Who Threw Stones at Trees. Begin by reading this PowerPoint Presentation. When you reach the end, try to answer the questions. Then try to match the story with the pictures in this activity -  you could either print it out and cut up the boxes to stick on the sheet, or you could have a go a drawing and writing your own version.

Tuesday 19th October

English - Poetry 🦉🐱
Today we would like you to write a new version of The Owl and The Pussy Cat poem. Begin by reading the poem and then have a look at this version where some of the words have been removed. We would like you to spend some time thinking about how you could complete these lines of the poem. Begin by thinking about what they went to sea in, e.g. you could change pea-green boat for a yellow canoe. Use the original poem to help you and try to include some exciting adjectives. You could also include some nonsense words!

Reading
Try to find some time to do some reading.

Maths - Add by making 10s (recap)
Begin by watching the video and then complete the worksheet. Here are the answers for you to check your work.

Computing - Technology Safari
For this activity, we would like you to go on a 'technology safari' around your home. Have a look for any examples of technology you can find and record the items on this sheet. Use the headings to help you describe the items and then tick off the reasons why you think they use technology. If you have time, you could draw and label some of the items.

We hope you to see you back in school soon.

Best wishes,
Mrs Piper and Mrs Mason
